Classic Bread Pudding
With its crusty golden top, custard-like inside, this Classic Bread pudding is a real homespun comforting dessert. One of the easiest and fuss-free desserts to make.
This recipe uses simple ingredients that you may already have on hand! A day-old or stale bread makes this pudding best, as it absorbs the moisture from the egg and milk mixture better. Some other options are French or brioche bread. Here’s what you will need to make this easy classic bread pudding recipe:
(serves 6)
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups milk
1/4 cup butter
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 slices soft bread cubes
METHOD:
- Preheat oven to 180C.
- In a saucepan, heat butter over medium heat until butter is melted.
- In another large bowl, mix eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Place the bread cubes in an ovenproof dish and pour the milk mixture over it.
- Bake uncovered 40 to 45 minutes or until knife inserted 1 inch from edge comes out clean. Enjoy warm.
